The Laxenburg Declaration on Population and Sustainable Development

Dr Adrian Hayes, an Adjunct Associate Professor with ADSRI, was one of over twenty experts who were brought together by the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) to discuss how population factors promote or impede sustainable development.

The expert panel have recommended five broad actions to the Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in the Laxenburg Declaration on Population and Sustainable Development.

A letter from the expert panel on 'Demography's role in sustainable development', has been published in the journal Science on 24 February 2012 (Vol 335 No 6071 p918).
